Mesh banner material is perforated with thousands of small openings so wind passes through rather than pushing against it. That drastically reduces load on the banner and on whatever it is attached to, making it the material of choice for fences, scaffolding and high or exposed positions. The trade-off is a slightly softer image, since part of the surface is holes.
